Women were used as sexual objects in both Rockford Files and The Dukes of Hazzard. Today, Daisy Duke is a legend of sexual enterprise. Her sexual appeal is iconographic and now known as 'Daisy Dukes' and has been mimicked throughout genre and time. I loved her and hated her all at the same time. Understanding how dumb she was acting, and how submissive she really was, not quite equal to Bo and Luke, yet more intelligent than Boss Hog.

However, I wanted to be as sexually attractive as her, to be desired by others like she is. There was a dilemma, to be smart or to be sexy, there was no 'hot geek' stereo type in the 80's.

Today you can find people imitating her style, and her behavior, and most of it is very sexual in nature and has little too do with anything other than sex. I can understand why my mother wanted to protect me from these types of television shows. And I have to say she did a pretty good job at making sure I understood how women were being dumbed down and sexed up instead.

As a result, I think I moved forward from second grade thinking that I could not be sexy if I wanted to be smart. I have had a hard time realizing that I can be both intelligent and sexual. In the past it was more important to me to be smart. I am just now realizing that sexuality is a part of me, and that I am very capable of being a sexy, beautiful, desired woman. Whom is highly intelligent, professional, creative and a feminist. I AM a SEX_e FEMinist, techNO_h0e.
