• 02.05.08 inside:out. opening reception featuring the artwork of rebecca jones: sarah h. dot, marko manriquez, and janedapain. with dj brett fox. lost letter series presented by jdap is a collection of lost letters that have been written to 30 recipients. the piece emphasizes the emotional response we all have to the letters we all need to write, or letters we need to send, the avioded process, and emotional tie. the piece demonstrates and captures the intense emotions and details the the story, a digital, yet tangable series of lost letters by janedapain. object + thought 3559 larimer st. denver, co 7pm.

vendetta music presents ant zen recording artist, black lung featuring david thrussell of snog, with in better senses, blackcell, kuxaan-sum and transcended device + video by jdap, we really just don’t have the words to describe how cool this show is going to be. black lung, side project of david thrussell of snog and soma is playing with some of the areas best underground dark electronic artists including in better senses, black cell, and kuxaan-sum. this is a rare treat to see black lung in the united states, and with all these great local acts together under one roof, how could you go wrong? black lung is the work of australian david thrussell, known worldwide as the central member of the anti-capitalistically charged industrual-electronica project snog. thrussell has produced innovative music for over a decade, with numerous releases under various guisesincluding soma, a collaboration with musician pieter bourke of deadcan dance. david has also produced songs for several australian films including 2000’s angst, and recently scored the movie the hard word starring guy pearce and rachel griffiths. black lung draws on the writings of dissident journalists noam chomsky and john pilger, film-makers roman polanski and oliver stone, and conspiracy writers william cooper and kenn thomas for inspiration, and has released records for machinery, fifth column, ant-zen and metropolis. tuesday september 19th 2006 @ 2101 champa, denver, co $8.00 at the door, 21 and up with id, 8:00pm

i am camping with entheon village. entheon, meaning a place to discover the spirit within, will be the name of the burning man village in 2006, that includes maps (multidisciplinary association for psychedelic studies) and cosm (chapel of sacred mirrors).  the mission of entheon is to demonstrate a future in which psychedelic experiences, emergent from the underground, are a welcomed and integrated part of society, and where art, spirituality and creativity is central to that vision.  entheon will be a grounded gathering place offering an intellectual, therapeutic, artistic and creative cornucopia of interactive opportunities.  maps will make available information acknowledging and addressing legitimate and irrational fears concerning psychedelic experiences, and report on the groundbreaking state-of-the art scientific research into the benefits of these potentially transformative passages. cosm will offer inspirational visionary art, ceremonies and creative programs for burners.  the village of entheon will merge science and healing, art and spirituality in a site for celebration....

the underground network presents:::::radio 1190 is pleased to present dj slip (minneapolis - persona, blueline, communique, music man, rampe d, drop bass, logistics, missile, i220, etc). a very eclectic techno dj, he is featured on new mixes by jeff mills, richie hawtin and sven vath, and is a recognized producer with more than forty releases out on a wide variety of labels around the globe. slip will also be speaking briefly on the power of music as an instrument of social and political change this saturday on 1190 am starting at 9pm. freq modif is a colorado group who recently released a full length cd / 2xLP on heiko laux's kanzleramt record label in berlin as well as numerous gems on their own label obliq. they will be performing live using several synths and drum machines, in a somewhat different musical style then their other alias, as part of multicast. blackcell is denver based group of three about to release their second full length album, perditions flame on backwards records. they will also be giving a live hardware performance. their music defies a genre, but westword describes it the best experimental noise around. the missing link released his debut ep, screw loose on wagon repair records in vancouver this past december. this ep was very well received and launched a label now home to several other great minimal techno artists. given the response at his last few gigs, tonight's live performance is not to be missed. resident friday dj's nitro, lotrack, and tomas will be delivering palatable house and techno. two rooms and an outdoor patio with music. oscilloscope waveform projections by red specter and sound by harmonic motion, ...and insane/jane video projections by image node (303). smoking and drink specials. 2922 baseline boulder, Co @ dark horse. 10 pm, free, after hours, tba . . .

Jane is a crazy and beautiful gal. Muah. I love her visuals. she is such a roller coaster ride and I think that her mentality of risk-taking is such a naturtal addition to her intensity. She is willing to take risks in all things and that is damn exciting to those of us with too many creature comforts. Where will her next eruption take place? I can only hope I am near but I have a feeling that Europe will experience the power of her resonance. Ahhhh.... lucky europe. ~Kendall Thiessen

Deconstructing a decompression.
Within hours of putting out a call for volunteers to help throw the first ‘official’ Burning Man Decompression event in Boulder Colorado, Jane Crayton (aka JaneDaPain) stepped forward and helped create one of the most successful and well planned parties Boulder has seen. She offered to host a planning get together at her house, advertised it, set up a dome, video projections and music and called it :::Dust:::oFF:::
At :::Dust:::oFF::: we discussed possible venues, music, art, special effects, promo and other related issues. Once we found a venue, Jane jumped to action calling out for volunteers, setting up a website, lining up DJs and video artist, setting up communications between planners, promoters, artist and performers and came up with a name; [[[[compress_thIS]]]]
She worked on two art installations of her own and helped with several others. She helped shuttle people’s projects to the site and spent all afternoon setting up and supervising volunteers. During the event she seemed to be everywhere, running video shows, adjusting the musical line up, working the door, staying focused and multi tasking at the same time. She stayed through the next day working hard on the clean up and did the final walk through and inspection.
I personally have not worked with someone who was not just willing, but eager to take on huge amounts of responsibility and follow through on every one of them with excellent results.
